Automatic RAS Configuration using itc.exe

Users can download the appropriate exe file by clicking either itc.exe or stu.exe from the table below to download the file and install dialup connection in their home computer to connect to ITC through RAS.

Faculty/Staff shall download ITC.exe by clicking the icon below Students can download STU.exe by clicking the icon below

 

The self extracting exe file (itc.exe or stu.exe) will install dialup connection to RAS system. All you have to do is download it to your computer and double click it to start installation.

During installation, choose to create an icon on the desktop. After installation is complete, double click the (RAS icon) created on your computer desktop. The following window will open.

 

 

In the "User name" combo box enter your Internet username and in "Password" combo box, enter your Internet Password. Note: You are not required to submit login domain name.

Your Internet Explorer settings will be automatically configured. You need not provide proxy information and port settings.

After entering username and password in their respective combo boxes, click properties button shown in the figure above. The following window will open.

 

KFUPM Faculty and Staff residing in KFUPM campus should enter "1010" in the "Phone number" combo box. Faculty and Staff living in Khobar and Dammam should enter "8601010" in the "Phone number" combo box. Students residing in Khobar and Dammam should enter "8601820" in the "Phone number" combo box. Any users dialing from an area where the area code is other than (03), he can use the phone book feature available with the exe file. For that, click "Phone Book" button in the figure above. The following window opens.

 

 

Select the entry under Access numbers. Then click OK button. Then click dialing rules on the RAS Properties Window. The following things must be configured for the first time depending on your location. The program will automatically insert the required area code number (and country code if required).

 

After editing the location information (providing the country and area code from where you are dialing), you can click OK, to get back to the RAS Properties Window.

If you have multiple modems in your computer, select the modem you want to use for dialing under "Connect using" drop down menu present in RAS Properties window. Click OK button to get back to the main RAS window and click "Connect" button.

The program will dial RAS system. If you have Internet Explorer as the web browser, it is ready to browse the Internet.

Note: Phone Book feature is not for users residing inside KFUPM Campus.

If you are using Netscape Navigator instead of Internet Explorer, you need to manually configure your Navigator browser before trying to access the Internet. Use the following information to manually configure the Netscape Navigator.

Open Netscape Navigator, then go to Edit and click Preferences. The following figures will guide you through the proxy configuration.

 

Select Manual proxy configuration and then click "view button". The following window opens. Type the information as shown below.

 

Note: Students should use "stuproxy.kfupm.edu.sa" instead of "proxy.kfupm.edu.sa".

If you are visiting any KFUPM site such as http://www.kfupm.edu.sa, you need not enter any username and password. Simply click "Cancel" button if a proxy authentication window pops up.

If you are visiting any external website such as http://www.google.com, you need to enter your Internet username in "User Name" combo box, Internet password in "Password" combo box and "ITC" in "Domain" combo box. This is shown if figure below.

 

Note: Students should enter "stu" instead of "itc" in the Domain combo box.
