Department of Petroleum Engineering

Natural Gas Reservoir Engineering

This course covers the fundamentals of natural gas reservoir engineering, namely:

  1. Determination of reserves using volumetric and material balance approaches taking into consideration the impact of water influx.
  2. Forecasting reservoir performance based on decline curves and deliverability testing.
  3. Gas condensate reservoirs and the impact of liquid drop out.
  4. Underground gas storage.
  5. Gas fields development.

The two main course objectives are to:

  • Provide participants with a clear understanding of gas reservoirs and how to predict their performances.
  • Introduce or review the fundamentals of gas reservoir engineering including reserve estimates, gas field deliverability and development, and introduction to underground gas storage.

For each major topic, participants will tackle a related practical problem followed by a step-by-step solution.
