Petroleum Engineering Training Program

The Petroleum Engineering Training Program is designed for industry professionals who have not received formal petroleum engineering education. The Program is a series of 10 modules covering basic areas of petroleum engineering and geology and is taught by KFUPM faculty. The 10 modules, each involving 20 hours of instruction, can be completed in approximately 12 weeks. Other scheduling arrangements can be accommodated whether on campus or off campus. The Program is intended to serve the following purposes:

  1. To provide non-petroleum engineers with a sufficient background in petroleum engineering that will enable them to understand the various operations and processes typically associated with production of oil and gas. The Program is designed for chemical, mechanical, process, and systems engineers and system programmers and developers working in the petroleum industry.

  2. To enable non-petroleum engineers to pursue a graduate degree in petroleum engineering at KFUPM without the prerequisite of completing PETE deficiency courses.

The Program is offered by arrangement only when a sufficient number (15 or more) of participants is available. This is normally coordinated with a client company which desires such training for a group of its staff.
